The Road Back in Time
Copán gives us another reason not to treat borders as something to race through. We'll explore one of the Maya world's great archaeological sites and then slow down in the small town surrounding it. Jungle, stone carvings and centuries of history make this feel less like a waypoint and more like discovering something hidden at the end of the road.
The Land Cruiser receives a border-day inspection—paperwork, tires, wheel bearings, cooling system and fuel. With several countries now behind us, we'll also inventory tools, spares, water and first-aid supplies. The farther south we travel, the more preparation becomes habit rather than event.
