Granada, Nicaragua

Slow Down Beside the Lake
Granada is where we deliberately reduce the pace. Colonial streets spill toward enormous Lake Nicaragua, while Mombacho, Masaya and the islands offshore provide enough adventure to fill the second day. The wider Nicaragua itinerary is a classic part of the overland trail, with León and Granada repeatedly appearing as major stops.
This is also a proper service stop. Oil level, coolant, brakes, tire wear, driveline fluids, belts and hoses all receive attention. Laundry gets done. Camera equipment gets backed up. Gear gets reorganized. Then we find a courtyard, order dinner and enjoy the strange satisfaction of having nowhere to drive tomorrow.
